Queensgate Market, Huddersfield, Yorkshire; Seymour Harris, 1970, II

A building long threatened with demolition by Kirklees Council. With reliefs and sculpture by German émigré Fritz Steller. Interior with mushroom shaped concrete columns which hold up stepped roof sections.

Equally threatened by municipal redevelopment plans this monumental stone building is now hopefully safe.

Scotstoun House, South Queensferry, Scotland; Peter Foggo, 1965, Category B

Built as the Scottish HQ for Arup Associates for whom Foggo worked. Still occupied by Arups and in good shape. One storey block on rectangular plan with Miesian appeal. Wall elements formed of pre-fabricated concrete panels which embrace full height windows.
