Well detailed brick box with richly decorated interior, featuring sculptures by Robert Brumby. Top lit, very atmospheric and well preserved throughout.
Multi storey lecture block at the heart of Manchester’s UMIST campus. Features a large abstract mural by Victor Pasmore on the ground floor. Sculptural freestanding staircase and fully glazed stairtower make this a very elegant education building.
Interesting sculptural brutalist corner block with more restrained 1950s block and assembly building on Sidmouth Street. Camden plans to demolish and rebuild.
Built in two phases the baths include Turkish Baths as well as a 30m pool with spectators’ gallery. Original fittings remain in parts of the building.
The building was begun in Victorian times but the inter-war spaces are grandest and feature inter alia a richly decorated Council Chamber with large murals.
Highly unusual inter-war building, almost post modern in feel. The pitched roof building looks very American with weatherboard siding and a deck but also has modernist features such as the three linearly aligned porthole windows.
