The Twentieth Century Society

Regional Groups

North West

The North West group covers all the regions of North West England: Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Merseyside. The group meets every six weeks, alternately in Liverpool and Manchester, and organises local events. Acting as the eyes and ears of the Society in the region, the group works closely with the Society's caseworkers, as well as other similar heritage groups locally, and is a member of the Liverpool Heritage Forum.

Notable landmarks of our period include the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, despite appearances completed in the 1970s, Its Catholic counterpart Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, the Mersey Tunnel ventilation towers from the1930s, and a sculptural wall in the UMIST campus in Manchester. Current cases include the long-running campaign to save Preston Bus Station.

All queries about cases in the NW should be directed to the Society's caseworkers in the first instance by emailing caseworker@c20society.org.uk.

New members are warmly welcomed - the group can be contacted by email via the administrator administrator(at)c20society.org.uk
